The Summer of Color: Week Six . . .

"All in all, it was a never-to-be-forgotten Summer - one of those Summers which come seldom into any life, but leave a rich heritage of beautiful memories in their going - one of those Summers which, in a fortunate combination of delightful weather, delightful friends and delightful doing, come as near to perfection as anything can come in this world."
- L.M. Montgomery, Anne's House of Dreams

Welcome to Week Six of The Summer of Color . . .

Talk about time flying when you're having fun! I can hardly believe that we're in our last week of play together and can hardly believe that this colorful Summer Camp of ours will soon come to an end. . . . I'd like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your artful contributions to the SOC 3 and, more importantly, for your sincere and encouraging comments to one another. You're a thoughtful, kind and tremendously supportive community that I'm proud to be a part of. Thank you for your time, efforts and enthusiasm throughout the event. You have inspired me in more ways than you can imagine!

And, as we head into Week Six, please know that it's not too late to join the party! Each week stands on it's own and I'd be thrilled to have you jump in now and give it a go. I promise you'll love it.

Speaking of love, I. AM. OVERJOYED to report that as of this week, we've hit the 1,000 mark on our  Flickr pool! How cool is that?! Please keep submitting your photos to have them counted among the others and please keep the conversations going in our Facebook page and all of the other social outlets you're a part of. Remember our hash tag is #SummerofColor3 should you want to include that in your social posts as well.

Okay, On With The Show:
For this, our last week together, we'll be working with the color prompt that 15% of us (in our closest race yet) choose. We're going a bit more neutral this time with the selection of . . .

Sage & Sepia

To see examples of the color Sage, click here
To see examples of the color Sepia, click here
To see examples of the combination of the two, click here

Here We Go!
Please feel free to create anything you'd like, as long as it's based upon the colors of the week. You have until this Sunday, July 21st (10:00 am, Pacific Daylight Time) to link to the widget below and qualify for the random Sage & Sepia drawing. Only one link per person, please

And What Lovelies Are We Playing For This Week?
Well, since Sage & Sepia really scream for vintage treasures, I've included some favorites from my personal collection for your efforts. One randomly drawn person will win this mix of both old and new materials:

{1 Strathmore Drawing tablet, over a dozen sheets of vintage music (including some darling titles), several vintage time sheets, an incredible ledger page dated 1927, a set of 3 washi tapes, a set of (and I love these ;) burlap stickers, 1 bottle of Stickles glitter, 2 Tim Holtz Distress Paint dabbers in both Vintage Photo and Peeled Paint, 1 Smash Idea Pop Up, 1 vintage milk cap, 1 set of Industrial Chic charms, 1 adorable cabinet card dated 1885, 1 vintage postcard featuring two little girls, 2 beautifully rusted hardware pieces and, of course, several clear and iridescent Swarovski crystals}

Right?! Remember, you have until this Sunday morning (10:00 am PDT) to link your work and be considered for the drawing.

What About Last Week's Winner?
Glad you asked. Last week's winner of the Candy Apple Red & Yellow giveaway is . . .

Patricia with her beautiful photograph

Congratulations Patricia! Please email me your address and I'll get your goods right out.

And Then What?
Well, you know I've got something up my sleeve! Come back next Monday, July 22nd for our Closing Week where we'll discuss ways to share the body of our SOC 3 work, where we'll find out who won the last Sage & Sepia giveaway and to pick up your well deserved Artist's Badge. Oh, and then there's the other matter of, um, well, you know. . . .

Summertime, Summertime, Sum, Sum . . . .

Kristin xo

I'm so sad this is our last week. Even though I haven't been able to participate in the last few challenges, I still loved seeing everyone's work. This is one talented group of people. I also loved how some got their children involved making it a family affair. Those kids are very talented too. Thank you so much Kristin for hosting this again this year. I look forward to next summer.

PS, Last year I noticed that people continued to post their work even after it was officially over. I hope we are still able to that again this year. So people like me who's missed a few weeks or just come late in the game can still play along. I know I'll keep coming back to see if anything new been posted. Maybe we could all come back during the holidays, or once a month even to create on just a topic. No prizes just fun. For example October have a Halloween element, December a holiday/winter element, etc. just a thought.

Kristin,

You are such an adorable hostess. Your positive way of looking at and talking about color is always a real treat. You have been so supportive of so many people. I am a bit saddened that this is the last week, but I'm thrilled I was able to meet all these challenge entries head on. Again, thank you for hosting and being so supportive of this very large group of artists.

I look forward to next week, too. I should probably win that prize this week, since I have such limited amounts of vintage ephemera to work with (grin).

This is the second time I've sent this message. The first time my computer froze and I had to reboot. I didn't forget you, honest!

Thank you so much Kristin for hosting this again. I love this challenge but it's always over too soon! I didn't vote for this colour combo but I'm actually really glad it was chosen (i must've overlooked it when voting) as I love those soft muted vintage-y colours!

Ohhhh I think this is the best prize you've compiled yet! OK, I'm putting a voodoo hex on anybody else winning. I'm joking. (I'm not!)

Kristin, I've had a blast playing along again this year - I've enjoyed it so much and tried a couple of techniques I wouldn't have otherwise. Thank you for hosting again.

Love this colour combination - thinking cap on.

I really enjoyed this Kristin. I think that it's a short six weeks is what makes it great. We know we have to have our thinking caps on so we try to do our best. This was my first time with SOC, but not the first I knew of you and your artistic ways. Thank you very much. It's been a lot of inspiring fun and great to have met new peoples as well. HAPPY SOC TO ALL!

Thank you so much Kristin for hosting such a wonderful challenge. This was my first summer participating. I see now why so many people can't wait for it to start each year. I definitely will be back next year!

I wish we had more weeks of this, Kristin! I enjoyed these muted colors, but I have again learned to expand my creative horizons with other colors. Remember the ice cream colors last year? I went to the Baskin Robbins site and got a few more of them, my "assignments" for the remainder of this summer!

Chandra Merod said...

Last week I didn't get a chance to post but this week I did, yay! So I put them both on the same post. This weeks colors were hard for me. I mixed them myself. Hopefully I've got it. Thanks Kristen for hosting this challenge. I am sad it's over so soon. It was fun :) I'll look for it next year.

I have had a busy week and wasn't able to get something done for this weeks SOC. I'm sad to see it end and have enjoyed this so much. Going thru all the blogs have been the highlight of my weeks, so many talented artists and clever ideas for the colors each week. I can't wait till next summer to do this again.

Thank you Kristin for all the help, support, gentle nudge you gave me. I couldn't have done it without you. My pile of cards make me so happy, they were so fun to make. You are awesome and the best host!
Thank you to those that visited my blog. I've enjoyed seeing your art each week and think you are pretty amazing too.
Still can't believe how fast these 6weeks have gone. Would love to go back to week one again.
Happy Summer to everyone!!
